FTEs are continuing to push the limits of the factory piston further and further, with peak torque and horsepower often more than 4-5x more than what Mr Toyota designed these great engines for, and failures becoming more common above 300HP with genuine pistons.

We have developed and rigorously tested our own Piston and Rod combination to suit High horsepower, High torque, High boost and High rpm FTEs

These modified MAHLE pistons have a bigger combustion bowl, lowering compression ratio, allowing more injection duration, and injection timing while keeping the bowl "lip" intact, helping maintain the efficient characteristics of a standard engine. These pistons also have a thicker crown, and better oil cooling galleries, making for more effective crown cooling properties. They also boast a 34mm piston pin and coated skirts. A much stronger piston in all aspects, proven in other applications to withstand upwards of 100HP per cylinder

Using TP brand piston rings, the same proven ring company and design to have very low crankcase pressures at high boost and torque levels and still be holding strong at upwards of 500,000ks in standard Toyota engines.

Our TM Conrods are forged 4340 steel, I-beam construction and utilise ARP 2000 7/16th rod bolts. These have been designed with very high boost levels (70 psi+), High rpm (5000rpm), and big HP and torque numbers in mind (900HP)

This combination will come with a full set of pistons, piston pins, retaining clips, ring set, rods, as well as an information sheet to give your machinist. We recommend using Donnelly engineering, as they have a torque plate to suit the larger piston bore.

We have been using this combination in our workshop FTE for a while, comfortably making 550HP and 1150nm to the hubs, at 58PSI, through a auto. This engine has taken our 80 series to a 12.1 second 1/4mile @ 112MPH. All while at 2.7tonne and being daily driven

Please note! these pistons are oversize and will not fit a standard bore. They require a 95.4mm bore. It is highly recommended to sonic test your engine block to ensure that you don't have excessive core drift. It is also HIGHLY recommended that only late model 1HD blocks (blocks with the crank sensor casting in the girdle)  are used, as the early blocks have a larger coolant gallery, which allows the bore to flex and crack.
